Enhance your overall well-being!

"There's always an opportunity with crisis. Just as it forces an individual to look inside himself, it forces a company to re-examine its policies and practices”, said Judy Smith.

There may be some of us, who want to make these unusual times as an opportunity, but are looking for answers on where to start.

One of the ways to get started quickly is to make a list of actions, which you wanted to do but did not have the time to do till now. Your Top 3 in this list can be a good starting point.

For those who would like to look at your growth more comprehensively, here is a structured approach to progress in your search for answers and get started:

1. First step would be to reflect on different dimensions of your overall well-being and reflect how you are doing in each of these following dimensions {Rate on a scale of 1(low) to 10(high)}:

a. Physical: This is about physical health but not limited to Exercise, Sleep and Nutrition

b. Emotional: This is about awareness, acceptance and healthy expression of one’s feelings such as happiness, love, joy, sadness, anger, fear, etc.

c. Social: This is about building and enriching relationships with family, friends, colleagues and other people whom you value.

d. Mental - This is about stimulating your intellectual creativity - related to your interests, career and passion.

e. Spiritual – This is about living your life with inner peace and purpose.

2. Based on your rating, the next step would be to prioritize dimensions that you want to focus on.

3. Let’s assume the dimension which is your top priority is Physical. Your rating as per point 1 is 6. Now, reflect and visualize – In this dimension, how would a fulfilled life (a rating of 10) look like? Capture your thoughts in a note.

4. To attain the life that you visualized, let’s make a start today. Identify those actions that will help you progress in the “Physical” dimension. It is important that you implement these actions today or latest by tomorrow. For example, it could be as simple as “I will do exercise 30 minutes a day”.

5. You can repeat steps 1 to 4 for any of the dimensions in your life.

COVID-19 crisis has forcefully made us experience new ways of living our lives. The following quote by Rahm Emmanuel is more relevant today - "Never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before".

Let’s make the best of the times today.
